This ramp is on the Willamette River between the two Highway 20 bridges going into Albany. It is a single lane ramp. This paved ramp is not steep. At summer water levels, some boats will need to watch the water depth. The park includes boat trailer parking. It is operated by the City of Albany. No fee is charged. The park is day use only but open all year, except when flooding occurs. There is a dock along the ramp, but no separate tie-up dock.

After you pull your boat out of the water, you can take a nice walk on the Takena Landing trail that goes downstream.

Some current can be seen in the photo. The blue marker on one of the pilings shows the water level during the 1996 flood.

Access to the park by car is to the left at North Albany Road. Coming from Albany, there is a left turn lane. For all directions, the full traffic light at Highway 20 makes for a safe entry.

Water Character

As of summer 2026, there was a bar off the end of the ramp. If using a motor, one should check that the depth is adequate. Canoes and Kayaks should not have problems. Also, the water current should be watched for off the end of the ramp. If any of these issues are concerning, it might be worth checking out Bowman Park.

Across the Willamette from Takena, and slightly upstream, is the Calapooia River confluence and Bryant Park. There is no ramp at Bryant Park, but if a boat can be carried, there is a good beach for launching boats during the warm season.
