Scappoose Bay Marina is an excellent facility, located on Scappoose Bay and about 20 miles from Portland. The ramps, parking and docks are well maintained. The Campground is located in the same park. Kayaks and Paddle Boards can be rented at the co-located Paddle Shack. This park is operated by the Port of Columbia County and fees are charged. Overnight parking is available for a fee. For long stays, the Port should be contacted ahead of time.

Access by vehicle is via US 30. Old Portland Road joins to US 30, off the bottom of this map. The campground, “Bayport RV Park,” is adjacent to the marina.

The chart shows the marina as “Ramp.” Green day markers, “1”, “3”, “5”, “7” and “9” mark the close-in access to the marina. The island, in the middle, across Multnomah Channel, is Sauvie. The Columbia River is farther East.

Description

This ramp is available and usable for all water except during floods. It is moderate in slope and so may not be steep enough for some sailboats.

Water Character

The Bay, Multnomah Channel and Sauvie Island are outstanding for small boats and paddle craft. The area is known for its wildlife. Multnomah Channel provides a protected waterway to Portland. To the North is the city of Saint Helens, the Columbia River and a wonderful city park at Sand Island.

There can be several feet of tidal level change in the area. Shallow water is part of Scappoose Bay, so watch the levels and tides.
