Launch area for hand-carried boats where Cantrell Rd. crosses the East Fork of Coyote Creek, about 1 mile upstream from Fern Ridge Reservoir. No ramp.

Directly across Hwy. 126 from Perkins Peninsula County Park take Central Rd. south. In about 3/4 of a mile turn left at the first intersection onto Cantrell Road. In about 1 1/4 mile you'll come to the launch area on the left, just before the bridge across Coyote Creek. Parking is just a wide shoulder on the north side of the road.

Description

Launching and retrieving boats is off a steep eroded bank. The level of Coyote Creek here is the same as Fern Ridge Res. when the lake is above winter levels. The pictures were taken in Early July, 2026, when the lake was about 3' below full.

Water Character

Coyote Creek is navigable between the launch area and Fern Ridge, at least when the lake has water in it. The railroad and highway bridges at the mouth are low, so be prepared to duck when the lake is full. I don't know how far upstream one can go. Looking downstream:
