Baker Bay at Dorena Reservoir

This Marina is on the South side of Dorena Reservoir. There is a single-lane ramp with good surface and a single dock. There is no added charge for ramp use, but there is an entry fee for the park, with a pay station near the entry. See comments on fees below. Be sure to display your receipt or permit on the dashboard of your vehicle.

This facility is operated by Lane County Parks. In addition to the boat ramp, there is trailer parking, a campground with hookups, picnicking and unsupervised swimming.

Fees are charged at this park. Several options exist.

  • Single day entry bought at pay station, day use only.
  • Season long entry pass for all Lane County parks, day use only.
  • Season long entry pass for Lane County marina slip holders, allows overnight parking.
  • Transient marina slip holder pass, allows overnight parking.

Location

GPS Location: 43.77189, -122.93695

The park can also be located on the interactive map from Open Street Maps.

Lane County's marina map shows details.

Ramp

The marina has one docks that may have some “transient” spaces. These show “unavailable” on the internet, but check with Lane County Parks, Eugene (541) 682-2000.

Boating season for Baker Bay is officially May 1 to August 31. Boat ramp use can extend outside of this season, as the park is kept open for day use.

Full pool is an elevation of 832 feet. That elevation system is used to track the water level, and is available on line. The lower end of the ramp is listed on the Corps of Engineers site as 765 ft elevation, giving a depth there of 67 ft [needs verifying].

The Lake

Dorena Reservoir is operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers to help control flooding and to provide water for summer irrigation. The level is raised with the spring rain, starting in February. The water is deliberately lowered in September and later. During the summer the water drops slowly ending several feet below full pool.

This is a general use lake shared by people-powered, sail and power watercraft.

Alternate Locations

Harms Park is operated by the State of Oregon. It is located across from Baker Bay. [A full wiki article is needed.]
