The Coots are in charge of putting on the Depoe Bay Wooden Boat Show this year, in cooperation with the Depoe Bay Chamber of Commerce. It is one of the major Coot gatherings. Many of us will arrive Friday afternoon. Around 5:30 we'll go up to the Sea Hag restaurant for a group dinner.
Depoe Bay is between Newport and Lincoln City on the Oregon coast. The Boat Show is held down by the harbor. Turn at the stoplight on Hwy.101 just north of the bridge and go on down to the bottom of the hill. Additional parking is available by the launch ramp, down the first road on the east side of the highway south of the bridge.
Boats may be exhibited either on land or in the water. There's some room for indoor displays of models and other crafts, and slide or video presentations, in the garage of Dockside Charters. Exhibitors can sleep aboard their boats, and primitive camping and RV parking is allowed for exhibitors in the city park near the launch ramp. If you need to sleep in a tent get in touch with me and we'll find a place for you.
If you'd like to display your boat at the Boat Show, please fill out this registration form. You can fill out the form on your computer, save it and email it as an attachment, or you can print it out and send it in by snail mail to:
John Kohnen, PO Box 40043, Eugene, Oregon 97404
There is NO registration fee. If you have any questions about the Boat Show, are interested in having a display that doesn't involve a boat, or would like to give a talk or a presentation, email me or phone me (I leave my answering machine on all the time -- a young lady answers): 541-688-2826
The Crab Feed will be all day Saturday and Sunday in the Community Center, at the bottom of the hill across the street from the Coast Guard station. A whole Dungeness crab meal, with cole slaw, garlic bread and a drink, will probably go for $25, a half crab meal will probably be $20. Rusty Truck Brewing will be selling beer out back.
