Dugout Canoe Steaming - Feb 11, 2007

Dawn 'til done

John McCallum, a gang from Grande Ronde and who knows who else are going to steam the dugout he's been carving for the Calapooias on February 11th -- and we're invited.

The steaming will start at the crack of dawn and last most of the day. Rocks will be heated red hot in one or two big bonfires, then thrown into the canoe, which will have several inches of water in it.

Wrestling hot rocks out of the inferno, hot water splashing all over, steam everywhere, and the chance that the canoe will split and dump boiling water on everybody's feet -- it'll be fun!
